Portable Electric Fence for Cows, Sheep, Goats, Pigs, Chickens
Typical portable electric fences use a net. I have one of those and it took forever to move it because it would tangle so badly, especially because I was trying to use it on partly cleared land so goats could eat the brush. I also would have goats get their heads stuck in the holes on occasion and need rescuing. There is a fast fence from Gallagher (G70000) but it only has 4 horizontal lines and 5 posts… so you can’t make a very big paddock. I’m not sure, it cost 400 dollars so I never bought one.
Instead here is the sun aquasystems fast fence. 6 horizontal wires, 14 posts plus 4 corner braces. 200 – 300 ft of wire. Take down and reset up in about 4 mins (limited mostly by walking speed). Open source design. In fact, you can build it yourself if you have a 3D printer that does ASA plastic and some basic hand tools.
Does work for chickens though like all electric fences it work best if the animals are trained to it first. Put the fence energized in a wire fenced area in a 10-20 ft section. The animals will learn to avoid it there without escaping.
Beta production price, 200 CAD + HST.
